Dental Care

A: The best way to prevent cavities and gum disease is to practice good oral hygiene at home and schedule regular checkups with your dentist. Preventive dentistry habits, such as proper brushing and flossing, and regular cleanings and checkups with your dentist, can help you avoid dental problems.

A: Fluoride, derived from fluorine, is found everywhere in nature: water, soil, air, and food. It is absorbed easily into tooth enamel and once the teeth are developed, fluoride makes the entire tooth structure more resistant to decay and promotes remineralization. This helps repair early decay before the damage is even visible.

Cosmetic

A: Millennium Dental can provide a solution to help you age gracefully. With smile rejuvenation, we can restore your teeth to their optimum healthy shape and size! As teeth wear, which is inevitable for each of us, the space between our upper and lower jaw reduces, which will bring our chin closer to our nose. This will also result in more deeply engraved jowls and will pull the corners of our mouth down to give the appearance of a permanent frown.

A: We do! Our Dentists are University of Alberta trained to administer Botox® for therapeutic and cosmetic purposes. Botox® can be an effective treatment for patients with chronic jaw (TMJ) pain and headaches.

A: Absolutely! Millennium Dental is pleased to offer several different teeth whitening options and we are happy to assess your needs and discuss your options with you.

A: Yes! Porcelain veneers are the best solution to cover gaps, chips, and misshapen teeth. The thin porcelain veneers can give you the beautiful smile you have always wanted!

Restorative

A: Through X-rays, we are able to detect cavities while they are still small and before they begin to cause pain. By placing the filling in your tooth while the cavity is still small, you can retain more of your healthy tooth structure.

A: A crown is used when a single tooth is damaged, while a bridge is used when more than one tooth is missing. Crowns and bridges add stability to the surrounding teeth while giving your smile a beautiful look.

A: Inflammation and infection of the gums and surrounding tissues can lead to irreversible damage to teeth and gums, as well as to other negative consequences to overall health. Proper oral care and regular dental check-ups help to prevent problems like these. Millennium Dental would love to be your partner in the effort to safeguard your health!

A: The reasons for using implants vary from person to person. Because they are anchored into the jaw, implants are an excellent long-term solution for replacing teeth that are beyond repair or missing. For individuals who do not have enough tooth structure to fit a crown onto, implants can be a great alternative.

A: Root canals are commonly believed to be painful, but the anesthetics and technologies we use today make this a relatively easy and pain-free process for patients. When administered properly, anesthetics will keep you comfortable and pain-free throughout the duration of the procedure. When the anesthetics wear off, some people can experience some temporary soreness or tissue inflammation, but these are easily controlled with non-prescription medications.

Neuromuscular

A: Pain in the head, neck, or jaw can often be connected to problems with the jaw. Problems with crowded teeth or missing teeth are just two causes that can lead to jaw misalignment, resulting in neuromuscular problems that can seriously impact your health and wellbeing. If you suffer from ear problems, pain or clicking in your jaw joint, stiff neck, or upper back pain, we recommend you have a dental professional trained in the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ and TMD assess the cause of the problem and advise you if they may be able to provide a solution.

A: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a dangerous medical condition that can have serious short-term and long-term consequences for your health. SNORING can be a cardinal sign of OSA. People with OSA stop breathing and as a result wake multiple times during the night due to a repetitive collapsing of the airway. For many people, this constant disruption in breathing during sleep results in chronic sleep deprivation. With OSA, blood pressure and heart rate surge in response to these collapses. This results in an increased risk of multiple serious conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and even impotence. Millennium Dental uses oral appliance therapy to successfully manage this condition. During this procedure, a custom appliance is used to gradually realign the jaw and/or tongue in relation to the head, reducing symptoms and resulting in a more restful sleep.
